Tom Sunnarborg

Prior to partnering with Rich Mack to acquire Forest Dunes, Tom Sunnarborg had first worked with Rich at The Mosaic Company as the Vice-President of Development to help lead the team through envisioning, design, permitting, construction, opening, and operations of the Streamsong Resort. Tom’s expertise in creating a defining golf resort came from 20-plus years of experience working with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Intrawest Placemaking, Celebration Associates, and Walt Disney Imagineering where he oversaw all aspect of the design and construction of the Pete Dye and Tom Fazio courses at Walt Disney World.

Following their experience at Streamsong, Tom and Rich began a worldwide search for their next project. Impressed by the quality of the resort and its existing golf courses, the team acquired Forest Dunes in January 2021. In addition to the great golf experience that already existed, the two new owners saw the incredible potential for the undeveloped sand-based land adjacent to the current layouts. With a topography very different from the highly regarded Tom Weiskopf-designed Forest Dunes course and The Loop, Tom Doak’s remarkable reversible course, architect Gil Hanse has presented a creative design for SkyFall that takes advantage of the property’s many unique characteristics.
